The Challenge

Small and medium-sized businesses face a painful choice: cobble together a patchwork of disconnected tools (separate systems for e-commerce, inventory, accounting, CRM) or pay enterprise prices for integrated solutions designed for much larger organisations.

The result is either operational chaos—data living in silos, manual reconciliation between systems, errors creeping in at every handoff—or budgets stretched thin on software that's overkill for their needs.

We set out to build something different: a genuinely integrated platform where everything from webstore to warehouse to accounts lives in one system, purpose-built for the scale and budget of real small businesses.

The Solution

Pakk is the first "All-Commerce Platform"—a single cloud-based system that handles the entire business lifecycle. Instead of point solutions that need to be wired together, Pakk provides native integration across every function.

The platform follows a "configuration over customisation" philosophy. Rather than building bespoke features for individual clients, we designed Pakk to be comprehensively capable out of the box, covering the patterns that real businesses actually need.

Webstores & Sales

Responsive storefronts, fast checkout, customer accounts, multi-site capability for running multiple brands from one backend.

Inventory & Purchasing

Lot/batch tracking, supplier management, purchase orders, demand planning, and stock movement across the entire supply chain.

Business Administration

Built-in accounting, accounts receivable/payable, financial reporting, VAT tracking, and invoice management.

Customer Management

Integrated CRM tracking leads through to loyal customers, with full visibility of the sales funnel from order to dispatch.

Fulfilment Services

Integration with fulfilment centres for storage, goods intake, and pick-and-pack operations.

Payment Processing

PakkPay provides in-house card processing, keeping the entire transaction flow within the platform.

Technical Approach

Pakk runs on MongoDB Atlas with daily backups, providing the flexibility needed for varied business data structures while maintaining reliability at scale. The API-first architecture allows integration with external systems where needed, while the core platform handles the heavy lifting.

The interface prioritises speed and clarity. List views are highly configurable—users can adjust columns, apply filters, and export data without developer intervention. Inline editing reduces the friction of day-to-day operations, while comprehensive detail views provide full context when needed.

Multi-currency and multi-language support was built in from the start, not bolted on later. The platform defaults to GBP and UK timezone but supports 30+ European billing countries and can be configured for different locales.

Client Feedback

The Outcome

Pakk has been running continuously in production for over five years, processing millions in client turnover. The platform serves brands, retailers, wholesalers, manufacturers, importers, and pure e-commerce operators—businesses that previously had to choose between inadequate tools and unaffordable enterprise systems.

The "configuration over customisation" approach has proven its value: new clients can be onboarded quickly, and improvements benefit the entire user base rather than fragmenting into client-specific forks.

We're so confident in Pakk's long-term viability that we've made an open source promise: if the company ever ceases operations and the software isn't acquired, the entire platform will be released as open source.
